Description

Pierre Pacherele (sometimes spelled “Pacherel”) was a renowned violin maker born in 1803 in Mirecourt, France, and passed away in 1871. He trained in his hometown and later traveled to Italy, where he worked with Giovanni Francesco Pressenda, a prominent luthier. Pacherele eventually returned to France and established his workshop in Nice, creating violins that were influenced by Pressenda’s style but gradually developed his own distinctive craftsmanship.

His violins are known for their meticulous craftsmanship, though they lack the virtuosity of his mentor’s work. Labels bearing his name began appearing around 1834, indicating the establishment of his independent workshop. Pacherele’s instruments are highly regarded among collectors and musicians, with auction records showing significant value.

The present violin having all of the attributes to Pacherele may again be a copy of the master. Tonally it is excellent, and the one-piece back is striking and beautiful/ Whether original or not it is a very lovely violin being sold at below retail value.
