Jean Baptiste Vuillaume (1798-1875) was the father of the modern violin making school in France the sheer number of instruments he made- over three thousand attirutes to the fact he in fact had many skilled workers in the shop working for him It is said the at the great Spanish violinist, Pablo de Sarasate said his copy of his Guarneri Del Gesu was undistinguishable from the original. The present viola is a very small viola by Vuillaume would be perfect for a very gifted player specializing in violin playing and occasionally recording or playing chamber music as a violist.
