Guseppe Stefanini (1908–1992) was an accomplished Italian violin maker born in Conselice, near near Ravenna. He trained under Luigi Vistoli in Lugo and, after World War II, worked with Nicola Utili and Pietro Borghi—both connected to the renowned Bisiach school—before establishing his own workshop, first in Brescia (from 1957) and later in Florence, where he collaborated with Paolo Vettori. His career thus bridged regional Romagnoli traditions and the refined Milanese-Bisiach lineage, giving his work both historical depth and personal originality.
Stefanini’s instruments, known for their fine craftsmanship and a varnish that evolved from early spirit to rich, luminous oil formulations of his own making. Stefanini has been greatly influenced by the classical Italian masters.
