Description:
Giovanni Rosadoni was an Italian violin maker born in 1905 in Santa Giustino, Perugia, and passed away in 1991 in Milan. He was active in Pavia, Como, and Milan, crafting instruments inspired by Stradivari models with golden-yellow varnish. His workmanship was highly regarded, particularly his violas, which were notably successful. Rosadoni exhibited his work at Cremona in 1949 and Bagnacavallo in 1976.
His instruments often bore labels indicating their place and year of construction, such as “Costruito dal Liutaio Rosadoni Giovanni / in Pavia anno 19..” or “Rosadoni Giovanni / fece in Como 1951 / Costruzione e riparazione di strumenti moderni / e classici.” His workshop was located at Via Fogazzaro 22 in Como.
The present violin for sale was one of the master’s later instruments and was made in Como, Italy in 1981. His instruments reflect his nature which was very direct and honest. These violins would make a wonderful second instrument for any fine professional player. Recently the violin has had a new bass bar installed which allows the instrument to ring more freely. The violin has a rich sonority featuring a powerful bass and clear e string brilliance.
